Vote now for row2k's 2014 Crew of the Year. Voting runs until Monday, January 5 at 5pm EST. (Note: our poll setup allows only 15 options, so already some uncomfortable choices had to be made; feel free to add your civil appreciations of other crews in the comments.)

2014 Crew of the Year: Marin Rowing Association Men's Masters Team.

Marin's 50 Eight won the Head of the Charles (Men's Senior Master Eights-50+) racing against formidable opponents such as Palm Beach, Penn AC, 87 Gold, and Molesey.

My girlfriend just read over the nominations and said it was obvious ;)

USA Women's 8 without a doubt. These women are determined like no other and cannot, will not, lose, even in a "lowly" World Cup. At the 2014 World Rowing Cup II in Aiguebelette, France (where the 2015 World Champs will be), they were 1.63 seconds behind Canada at the 1500. “It’s gonna take something absolutely massive from that USA Women’s Eight to turn this around” (said the commentator). USA finally come from behind and win 6:04.77 to 6:05.82.

All 8 women had previously raced in the pairs at the same regatta. Only half of the Canadian crew had done so.

2014 crew of the year!!! Come on, go back and change your vote!!!

No doubt that winning the 8 year after year is impressive, but maybe it's time to start racing in some other boat classes that offer a challenge. Get out of the comfort zone and show that the US is actually a dominant rowing power in more than just the 8.
